Worship Ministry
Worship at Canyon Hills is all about encountering God. It's turning our attention away from the pressures of everyday life and focusing on who God is and what He has done. It's recognizing His power, His love, and His desire to be in a daily relationship with each one of us. We like to say that if we have raised your view of God then we are on the right track.
While worship is very personal there is something special about coming together corporately as a church family. That is why we place such a high priority on our Sunday services. These services don't just happen. They are the result of many people just like you who have committed to using their talent and passion to lead our church in worship. Vocal Team
The Canyon Hills vocal team provides an opportunity for the gifted vocalist to use his/her gift in ministry. This team serves on a rotating basis providing vocal support for the worship in both Sunday morning and Sunday evening services. Service on this team requires weekly rehearsals along with personal preparation outside of rehearsals. The Vocal Team not only works hard toward musical excellence, but they also develop lasting friendships in an environment where all are encouraged to grow in their faith. A high level of commitment is required by participants who apply and audition to be a part of this team.
Instrumentalists
We often feature our brass section, string section, or individual solo instruments in our Sunday services. Sometimes we even use them all in the same service! These players bring a high level of competency along with a great heart as they serve in ministry. Good sight-reading ability and improvisational skills are a plus to serving in this area. Rhythm Section
The worship band each Sunday is built around a strong rhythm section (drums, bass, guitar, and keys). We are always looking for players who combine a high level of commitment and professionalism with a servant's heart. Because of the difficulty of the music at times, it is necessary for participants to play a wide variety of musical styles, have the ability to read charts, as well as improvise. Call the worship office to schedule an audition.
Choir
The Canyon Hills Choir provides an excellent opportunity for singers with a heart for God and a love for music to serve in ministry. The choir participates monthly in the Sunday morning services for six months of the year (October - December and February - April). Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings one and two weeks prior to each scheduled Sunday service. Singers ages 16 and up are welcome - auditions are not required.
CHCC Dickens Carolers
The message of Christmas comes alive in our community through the Canyon Hills Dickens Carolers. In full costume, these accapella ensembles perform throughout the Christmas season at local shopping malls, hospitals, corporate parties, and retirement centers. Auditions for the Dickens Carolers are held each fall.
Technical Arts
The Canyon Hills Tech Arts team plays an integral role in just about everything that happens at the church. Providing sound, lighting, and video support to all of the ministries is no small undertaking! Combining excellence with a servant's heart, the folks who serve in this ministry enjoy the "behind the scenes" role as they assist various ministry events. We are looking for camera operators, graphic operators, lighting operators, switchers, PA/front of house, and folks to help set up and tear down each week. While experience is always good, we are more than happy to provide training for our volunteers.
