Background:
Loma de Luz (Hill of Light) is a Christian missionary hospital in Balfate, Colon, Honduras. Located on the north coast about 1 ½ hours east of La Ceiba, it serves a rural, low-income population that would otherwise have no access to health care due to cost and/or distance. The hospital was conceived and developed by general surgeon Dr. Jefferson McKenney and is funded by donations through the Cornerstone Foundation in Saucier, Mississippi. Dr. McKenney and his wife Roseanne, a nurse, have assembled a dedicated staff of physicians and nurses who are sharing not only their medical skills but the Word of God through their work. The hospital is the largest single employer in the region and is actively training Honduran nurses and other staff. Jesus Christ is central to the mission of the hospital and its staff, and as a result, an average of one person a day joins God's family of believers in His Son.
