Field Report - October 2008
Dear beloved-in-the-Lord, brother Michael, sister Linda, Joseph and Shari, Irina, brother Dale, Pastor Keith, the brothers and sisters of Canyon Hills church and everyone who loves our Lord, Jesus Christ: May grace, mercy, and peace increase for every one of you!!! Thank you for the letter. I’m grateful to the Lord that there are still many people whom I don’t yet know but who are supporting me and the Church and our service to the Almighty! This is really encouraging and it makes me joyful. Thank you!
To those people who provide this support: Sincerest greetings and God’s blessings to you!! We had a young girl repent on Sunday. She is 14 years old and her name is Regina. Two sisters renewed their repentance. (NOTE: We would say recommitted) Today is October 7; I have sent our youth to the house of prayer in Beryozhovka to help brother Renat with the remodeling. Please pray that he would have everything that is essential. (NOTE:Renat is the “assistant” young pastor we have talked about recently. The village is the one in the mountains.) When is Pastor Larry able to come here? We would like to be able to prepare for this ministry. Dear brother, I am ready to pray with you for God’s will. I understand that this is difficult and very expensive. God help us with this!
(NOTE: Pastor Larry is set to go in August to train pastors and children’s leaders. We are still praying about God will do) Irina’s daughter, Ksiusha is doing well. She’s gained weight and is using the baby walker – there aren’t any complications on her heart, everything is normal. Praise the Lord, this is His mercy. (NOTE: HALLELUJAH!!! This is a one year old baby who had serious heart problems, including what the mother described as a hole, and the mother was distraught when we prayed. This is a miracle.)
We are planning to train our Sunday school teachers. If the Lord wills it, during the winter break, we would like to be able to organize 2 or 3 day camps with games and activities. I pray about you, Michael, and about Linda. I pray about your church and for God’s will in having you make another trip, and Linda’s health. Perhaps next year you’ll be able to bring Linda with you? There’s a sister here, Luda, who is sick at home. She goes to the camp, forgetting that she’s ill, comes back home and gets sick again. Pray for her and we will too. The church is getting ready for Christmas. For now we’re contemplating, thinking about different options. We would like to be able to have a day-time children’s camp for the New Year’s/winter break.
Our sisters are getting ready for this event. We’ll be sending some of the guys to Beryozhovka to complete the construction that wasn’t finished last time. It’ll take another 2-3 days before we’re ready for the winter. We’re trying to get the coal delivered from here to Beriozvka. Now, about me: God is merciful – I’m almost completely healthy (NOTE: This is a big praise!) and I pray for a wife.
I have a situation that recently arose and I ask that you add this to your prayer list. The tax auditors have checked our books and found a violation, even though all accounting we submit have zeros (NOTE: not sure what that means). They wrote us up - our church and me as the person in charge. Today I was at their administration office and they have decided not to punish the church. Praise the Lord!!! They decided to only fine me. The fine is $300. They gave me permission to pay this off within the next 3 months. Praise the Lord!!! (NOTE: I love this attitude in Sergei.) Pray for everything to go well and so that in the future we don’t commit any violations. God, give us wisdom!!! Send my regards to all who love the Lord!!!
Your brother in the Lord, Sergei
