Dr. Steve WalkerIn starting Canyon Hills, Tammi and I had no specific strategy - no five, ten or fifteen-year plans. We had only one mission: to make more and better disciples of Christ. Since then, God has turned Canyon Hills into a world-influencing ministry. From homeless shelters to prisons, college campuses to strategic international missions, Canyon Hills is fulfilling its mission!
I started the church in 1995

Dave MorganIt is a privilege to serve the family at Canyon Hills as the worship pastor. I grew up in southern California, did my teenage years in Bellevue, then back to California to attend Pacific Christian College (now Hope University). Out of college I joined the staff of Overlake Christian Church in Redmond (the church that began CHCC, way back when) and was there until coming to Canyon Hills. I am excited to lead the team that leads our church in worship…there’s nothing like it! Worship is the one thing that we take from this life to the next. Let’s get better at it together!

Jim SewellI am blessed to be in the position of Executive Pastor here at CHCC. I was born in Kansas City, but grew up in San Diego, where I lived until 1994. My seminary degree is from Liberty University, in addition to a MA in Management from National University in California. As the EP, my primary role is to try to make sure that each of the pastors have everything they need to do the ministry work that God has led them to do. My favorite part of ministry is seeing each of the pastors succeed in implementing their direct ministry to the people of CHCC. I came on staff in 2001 as an Pastor in Training and have been blessed as God has allowed me to progress through ministry positions to my current one as EP. Kathy is my wife. We have two adult kids (Christine and Jeff) and five grandkids who all live in the area.

Pastor LarryI'm the Children's Pastor here at CHCC and I've now served for over 30 years in ministry to kids. What I enjoy most about this ministry is watching kids begin to connect the Word to their everyday lives and realize it works! I also enjoy seeing adults serving and being fulfilled in ministry. That's probably why I love training teachers internationally, because they get so excited to begin reaching and teaching the kids of their communities.
I started here in January 2001
My wife is very godly woman named Darlene
We have 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren.

Remember ‘Greatest American Hero’? He was a guy who could do some amazing things once in a while but was a little klutzy and regularly made some pretty human mistakes! I can relate!

I’ve always wanted to go to New York City and Washington DC
Matt MaasI am the Middle School Pastor here at Canyon Hills. I grew up in San Diego and I am a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University where I studies Pastoral Ministries and Youth Ministry. The passion I have for our middle school ministry is to reach students with the gospel and train believers in the Word while connecting them in meaningful relationships with peers and adult leaders. I passionately want to see students love God and serve others. On a personal note, I love my hometown teams the Padres and Chargers and Carne Asada buritos from La Posta de Acapulco's in El Cajon Ca. Currently I am addicted to Cherry Coke and gummi bears. We are professing “Disney Geeks” and love going to the Happiest Places on Earth (Disneyland and Walt Disney World).

I would love to visit Europe on vacation, and Africa or India on a mission trip.
Ben MarshallI am the Pastor of Counseling here at Canyon Hills. I grew up all over the place. My dad is a Navy Chaplain so I grew up moving every two or three years. Of all the places that I lived, North Carolina is the one I would move back to in a heartbeat. Right on the ocean, hot weather in the summer, laid back people all year around…but I will never be called to pastor there because I would never get any ministry done. I graduated from Saint Martin’s College in Lacy Washington with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I also have my Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s College and am a member of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. The thing that I enjoy the most about my area of ministry at the church is watching God’s Sovereign hand transform His people through the power of His Word and His Word alone.

Koby OrrI am so excited to be on the Canyon Hills team! My wife and I both grew up in Spokane, but went to school in southern California. I went to San Diego Christian College and she went to Azusa Pacific University. I graduated with my bachelor’s in music in May of 2008, and married my beautiful wife, Halley on June 1, 2008. After working for a year down south we were excited to have the opportunity to move up to Washington again. I am looking forward to getting to know the people here better and to grow with them through worship.

Mark BarrettI grew up in Hingham MA, just south of Boston. I received a BA in English from New England College and a M.Div. from Faith Evangelical Seminary, my concentration was in the area of systematic theology and New Testament studies. My pastoral mission is to communicate the scripture clearly, accurately and concisely so believers will know how beautiful, how delightful, how glorious and how important the divine scripture is. I labor so they will love the Word, abide in the Word and through all of this know and treasure the Christ of the Word. I am excited about my new call to CHCC and am looking forward to teaching in the Life classes.

Pastor CoreyI grew up near Columbus, Ohio and home of the Ohio State Buckeyes. While in Bible College I took some time off and did an internship at a two year old church plant that was meeting at the Canyon Park Junior High School, and fourteen years later they asked me to come back and join the pastoral staff. I find it a great privilege and honor to be part of the Canyon Hills family. Any free time I have I love spending it with my amazing family. Working in missions is a great responsibility as God has called us to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I find it encouraging to see others become passionate about reaching their neighbors both locally and globally.

I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and remain a cheese head to this day GO PACKERS! I have had the privilege of serving as a lay elder before going to seminary at a great church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. That opportunity helped prepare me for ministry in so many ways. I went to seminary in Southern California taking classes at The Masters College and The Masters Seminary. They were the best of times for my family as we were a part of the seminary and of Grace Community Church families. I was asked to come on staff during my time at Grace and served in the Missions Department. It was here I had opportunity to go and minister in the great country of South Africa. We moved to Washington in 1996 and I have served in several churches as senior pastor over the years. In 2008 I was asked to serve here at CHCC in the Biblical Counseling Department. My role expanded over time eventually coming to Canyon Hills full time in my current role. This position feeds my passion to see the people of the church dig in to the Word of God, and be transformed by its riches, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
I am truly blessed to be married to Marie for thirty seven wonderful years (I wanted to use the term awesome but she says I overuse the word). We have four great children; three young men – (Josh, Caleb, and Jordan) who have all married godly ladies and have blessed us with five grandchildren thus far. We have also been blessed with one daughter who is getting ready to leave for Uganda for a year of ministry. We would appreciate prayer for her (Rebekah) and the opportunities the Lord will give her.
Colossians 1:28-29, And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ. And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.
