Watch this video for a simple explanation of why Jesus is important to us.
Our five essential beliefs consist of the five solas. The five solas emerged in the early 16th century during the Protestant Reformation and summarize the Reformers' basic belief in the supremacy of scripture and the sovereignty of God. These five great truths emphasize a historic, doctrinal departing from the Roman Catholic Church. The solas are the core beliefs to which Canyon Hills Community Church is committed. The source of authority: Sola Scriptura, the basis of salvation: Sola Gratia, the means of salvation: Sola Fide, and the merit of salvation: Sola Christus.
The Holy Scripture as the infallible, inspired word of God is the only authority for all doctrine, faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16).
Salvation exists in Jesus Christ alone. (Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5-6).
Justification (being made right before God) is an act of God, by which he accepts us as righteous in His sight, solely on the merits of Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1)..
Salvation is based solely on the imputed (transferred) righteousness of Jesus Christ and is not earned by any human effort or will. (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 5:1, 2).
The created universe and all it contains, exist for the purpose of showing forth the Glory of God, because God loves His own glory (Isaiah 43:7, 21, 25; Romans 16:25-27).
