FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the goal of the CHCC Food Bank?

Our goal is to support Canyon Hills Community Church’s mission statement of, “Making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ” by providing for the physical and spiritual needs of those in our community. Our hope is that those who come into our Food Bank, both volunteers and clients, will see Christ’s love in action and be drawn closer to Him through their visit. We will present the gospel to each person who comes through the door, both in word and in deed.

Who is qualified to be a client?

Our CHCC Aid and Assistance Department has determined qualifications based on income and various other factors. The clients also must live within the CHCC Food Bank geographic boundaries.

What are the CHCC Food Bank boundaries?

The boundaries have changed.  We are now only serving: Lynnwood (98036, 98037, 98046, 98087);  Bothell (98011, 98012, 98021, 98041, 98082);  Kenmore (98043).   We are no longer serving South Everett, Mountlake Terrace, Woodinville or Snohomish. Boundaries do not apply to CHCC members.

What if someone walks up during open hours but has not been pre-screened?

We will screen them during open hours and they will go through the Food Bank that day. During the next week, their status as a client will be confirmed or denied and they will be contacted as to that decision. If they are confirmed, they may come back weekly as a CHCC Food Bank client.

Do the clients make an appointment for service at the CHCC Food Bank?

There are no appointments at the CHCC Food Bank. Once a client has been screened and accepted, they may come every Tuesday or Thursday (once a week) at any time during our open hours.

Where does the CHCC Food Bank get its food?

Most of the food has been donated by the Canyon Hills family. We are currently purchasing dairy, meat and produce to supplement what has been donated.

How will we keep our shelves full of food?

The Food Bank Leadership Team is trusting the Lord for this! He is able to provide abundantly through our church family! Please pray about how YOU can be a part of helping in this area… Will YOU commit to bringing a donation once a week? Do YOU know someone who owns a food-based business who would be willing to donate? This is a team effort by our Canyon Hills family. How can YOU help?

Do we have enough volunteers?

Our need is always growing. We are doing well, with many faithful volunteers, but would love to have you if you feel led to help. If you would like to sign up, please download a Volunteer Application or pick one up at the Information Center on Sunday and drop it off at the church office during business hours or bring it back to the Information Counter. All the information you need about the different areas of the ministry are described on the Volunteer Application.
