Who do we help?

CANYON HILLS COUNSELING MINISTRY offers individual counseling for adults, couples or singles, who are caught in suffering and/or sin.  We regularly counsel adults 18 and older, and will take under consideration counseling for children and teens ages 9 through 17 (parents/guardians must be able and willing to be involved in the process).  While we do not require that everyone be a member of Canyon Hills, we do require that everyone receiving counseling at Canyon Hills be attending church regularly at Canyon Hills for at least three months, and consider this their church home.

[Please note: Our HOPE GROUPS are open to those who do not attend Canyon Hills.]

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO WE PROVIDE COUNSELING FOR?

Individual Counseling is made available to help with any issues that you might be facing – marriage, parenting, relationship issues, addictions, mental disorders of all kinds, issues of the past (including childhood sexual assault), fear, anger, grief, depression, anxiety, etc.

HOW WE COUNSEL

Our counseling approach is based upon the truths of the Bible. Since God has fully provided His answers to life and all of life’s problems through the Bible, we believe that it [the Bible] is superior to any other source of counsel. It is our goal, therefore, to skillfully and practically bring God’s answers to shine upon the difficulties you are facing.

WHO DOES THE COUNSELING?

The counselor you will receive will be trained according to the standards found at the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).  While not all of our counselors are certified with ACBC, all of our counselors are supervised by those with an ACBC certification.  Our counselors are NOT certified with the State of Washington.

(Due to our constant and extensive waitlist, we cannot accommodate requests for particular counselors.  We trust all our counselors to faithfully counsel from God’s Word and we trust God’s sovereignty to place you with the counselor who is right for you.  Please fill out the counseling paperwork to get started on the process.)

At this time we are counseling members and regular attenders of three months or more.

WHAT’S THE COST?

Our counseling is FREE!  It is always a privilege to sit down with those who are suffering and share the hope that is found in God’s Word.  As such, we never want money to be an obstacle.  There is a one time non-refundable $25 administration fee that covers your binder, initial resource, and administrative processing. If you lose or damage your binder, you will incur a $15 replacement fee. If you need to cancel your appointment, we require notice within 24 hours of your scheduled time to the main counseling office or you will incur a cancellation fee. You will need to submit $25 before continuing your counseling sessions. Additionally, there may be a cost for materials used in counseling.

WHEN DOES COUNSELING TAKE PLACE?

Counseling is available Monday through Thursday beginning at 9AM and ending at 9PM.

(The more flexible your schedule is, the sooner you can begin your counseling.  Evening time slots that begin between 4:30-7:30 are the most popular and usually require a longer wait in order to begin.)

HOW LONG WILL COUNSELING LAST?

Counseling sessions normally last one hour and are scheduled weekly. The average length of time from the first session to the last session is around 20 weeks.  The number of sessions may be shortened or lengthened depending upon progress made.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?

Your counselor will expect the following 4 items from you:

  • A willingness to grow and change.
  • To be on time for weekly counseling appointments.
  • Completion of all homework/projects for growth in between counseling sessions.
  • Attending church every week, with at least 3 of those instances occurring at Canyon Hills.
