Men’s Summit

Men's Summit 2024

About the Men's Summit

On March 16, we welcomed hundreds of men from CHCC and the surrounding community as they sought to grow in the Lord together. We enjoyed breakfast, a time of worship, and the testimony of former Husky/NFL Quarterback and current Fox Sports Broadcaster, Brock Huard. We had six breakout sessions as described below which covered a broad range of pertinent topics speaking to the challenges men face today.

2024 theme:
How to be a Christian in a secular workplace

with Brock Huard

Known in the public eye as a sports analyst and former NFL football quarterback, Brock’s first and foremost identity is a follower of Jesus Christ. As our keynote speaker, he shared about navigating the secular workplace as a Christian.

Breakout sessions

Authentic Relationships: How to Have and Be a Good and Wise Friend (Edgar Galdámez)

Why do men need good and wise friends? Explore lessons from Proverbs on how to become that kind of friend, what to look for in others to have authentic relationships, and how these relationships benefit our spiritual walk.

A Higher Calling: What Does It Mean to Be the Spiritual Leader of My Family? (Andy Soemo)

As husbands and fathers, God calls us to be the spiritual leaders of our families. What does that mean? How do we even begin? In this session, look at what God’s Word has to say about leading your family well, learn what it means to lead spiritually, and think through practical steps of doing so.

The Handoff: Teaching the Next Generation Well (Jon Walker)

How do we teach our foundational beliefs to the next generation? Examine what foundational truths dudes, dads, and disciple-makers should emphasize; and how to teach and model these foundations.

The Strength of Surrender: God's Gift of Sabbath (John Dabeck)

Do you feel like you’re busier than God? Often as men we put as much as possible on our plate then feel taking anything off is a sign of weakness. These habits drain us spiritually, emotionally, and physically while piling up the anxiety. In this session, dive into how we draw our strength from the true gift of Sabbath and learn to take seriously the words of Christ that, “Sabbath was made for man, not man for Sabbath.”

Managing His Resources: Principles to Master Your Money (Ed McCahill)

The Bible is very clear that God owns everything and we are simply His stewards. This session equips you with a biblical financial worldview and practical counsel to get yourself aligned with God’s principles for wise money management.

Husbands, Love Your Wives: A Practical Guide to Sacrificial Love (Dr. Graydon Cress)

How can we lay down our lives for our wives? Looking to the example of Jesus, Dr. Graydon puts skin and bones on what servant leadership looks like in a marriage context, with some practical tools in communication, listening well, understanding how to navigate emotions, and hands-on service.
