Dr. Steve Walker

Senior Pastor

In starting Canyon Hills, Tammi and I had no specific strategy - no five, ten or fifteen-year plans.  We had only one mission:  to make more and better disciples of Christ.  Since then, God has turned Canyon Hills into a world-influencing ministry.  From homeless shelters to prisons, college campuses to strategic international missions, Canyon Hills is fulfilling its mission!

Dave Morgan

Worship Pastor

It is a privilege to serve the family at Canyon Hills as the worship pastor.  I grew up in southern California, did my teenage years in Bellevue, then back to California to attend Pacific Christian College (now Hope University).  Out of college I joined the staff of Overlake Christian Church in Redmond (the church that began CHCC, way back when) and was there until coming to Canyon Hills.  I am excited to lead the team that leads our church in worship…there’s nothing like it!  Worship is the one thing that we take from this life to the next.  Let’s get better at it together!

Jim Sewell

Executive Pastor

I am blessed to be in the position of Executive Pastor here at CHCC. I was born in Kansas City, but grew up in San Diego, where I lived until 1994. As the EP, my primary role is to try to make sure that each of the pastors have everything they need to do the ministry work that God has led them to do. My favorite part of ministry is seeing each of the pastors succeed in implementing their direct ministry to the people of CHCC.  I have been blessed as God has allowed me to progress through ministry positions to my current one as EP.

Pastor Larry

Pastor of Children's and Student Ministries

I'm the Children's Pastor here at CHCC and I've now served for over 30 years in ministry to kids. What I enjoy most about this ministry is watching kids begin to connect the Word to their everyday lives and realize it works! I also enjoy seeing adults serving and being fulfilled in ministry. That's probably why I love training teachers internationally, because they get so excited to begin reaching and teaching the kids of their communities.

I am the Middle School Pastor here at Canyon Hills. I grew up in San Diego and I am a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University where I studies Pastoral Ministries and Youth Ministry. The passion I have for our middle school ministry is to reach students with the gospel and train believers in the Word while connecting them in meaningful relationships with peers and adult leaders. I passionately want to see students love God and serve others. On a personal note, I love my hometown teams the Padres and Chargers and Carne Asada buritos from La Posta de Acapulco's in El Cajon Ca. Currently I am addicted to Cherry Coke and gummi bears. We are professing “Disney Geeks” and love going to the Happiest Places on Earth (Disneyland and Walt Disney World).

Jon Walker

High School Pastor

I am the High School Pastor at Canyon Hills and consider myself incredibly blessed to serve students and their families at this church. I enjoy being a part of the process as God takes a student and forms them into a spiritual leader among their peers, church and community. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of a student ministry as I myself came to Christ in a High school ministry that met in a converted liquor store that saw countless students find Jesus in it. It was there that I was invited by a friend in High School to meet Jesus and his people. My life was never the same. I grew up in the Bay Area in California which means my favorite football team wears Red and Gold (sorry, can’t help it). I went to school at Simpson University in Redding, CA where I got my education towards ministry and met my wife. Apart from God and Family my closest loves are soccer (the real football), The San Francisco Giants (even years!), tacos (especially out of a truck) and playing the drums (not as good as most). I also won’t give up the dream that one day I’ll have my own wood-working shop in my house. One day!

Ben Marshall

Counseling Pastor

I am the Pastor of Counseling here at Canyon Hills. I grew up all over the place. My dad is a Navy Chaplain so I grew up moving every two or three years. Of all the places that I lived, North Carolina is the one I would move back to in a heartbeat. Right on the ocean, hot weather in the summer, laid back people all year around…but I will never be called to pastor there because I would never get any ministry done. I graduated from Saint Martin’s College in Lacy Washington with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I also have my Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s College and am a member of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. The thing that I enjoy the most about my area of ministry at the church is watching God’s Sovereign hand transform His people through the power of His Word and His Word alone.

Pastor Corey

Pastor of Missions and Community Outreach

I grew up near Columbus, Ohio and home of the Ohio State Buckeyes. While in Bible College I took some time off and did an internship at a two year old church plant that was meeting at the Canyon Park Junior High School, and fourteen years later they asked me to come back and join the pastoral staff. I find it a great privilege and honor to be part of the Canyon Hills family. Any free time I have I love spending it with my amazing family. Working in missions is a great responsibility as God has called us to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. I find it encouraging to see others become passionate about reaching their neighbors both locally and globally.

DUSTIN SLEZAK

Life Group Pastor

I was born and raised in the midwest, near Chicago. I graduated from Moody Bible Institute and then spent the next 14 years serving in various pastoral roles within student and adult ministry at two churches in the Chicago suburbs.  It was during these years that the Lord really solidified my conviction that small groups are the primary discipleship vehicle within the local church. It's a blessing to be here at Canyon Hills, ministering alongside others who share that same conviction.  To Him be the Glory as we make more and better disciples in our Life Group ministry.
